On Safari 5.2

I installed Safari 5.2 beta, which will debute along with OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. I deleted it a few hours later (with the Uninstaller. Very Windows-like. You also have to reboot your system afterwards.). I really didn’t like it, and here’s why:

  • Full-size tabs. While being OK on the iPad, they look ridiculous on a big screen
  • Backspace won’t go back in history anymore. This is plain awful. I seriously have no idea why they removed that

Fortunately, there’s hope.

I thought about the the backspace thing. Maybe Apple is right here. There are many (dynamic) pages where you shouldn’t go back in history. Additionally, when filling in forms, there’s a chance you accidentally navigate back.
