That Topolsky has no major gripes like this about the Galaxy Nexus makes me think Android 4.0 might really be the first good version of Android. Which in turn makes me think Steve Jobs wasn’t far off at the 2007 iPhone introduction when he claimed the iPhone was five years ahead of the competition.

Nokia hat heute seine beiden ersten Windows Phone 7 Smartphones (Lumia 710 im Bild links, Lumia 800 rechts) vorgestellt. Kurzum bin ich zuversichtlich, dass Nokia hier alles richtig gemacht hat. Wir haben nun auch den Grund, weshalb Nokia das MeeGo-Smartphone N9 nicht in Deutschland veröffentlich hat, da es sonst dem Lumia 800 Konkurrenz machen würde und Windows Phone 7 eine bessere Zukunft vor sich haben wird als MeeGo.
Optisch ist das Lumia 800 – wie schon das N9 – eine absolute Augenweide. Nicht zu groß, fantastischer Polycarbonat-Unibody und ergonomisch besser als das iPhone 4(S). Selbst der Preis geht völlig in Ordnung, in Deutschland soll es ohne Vertrag 499€ kosten. Das OS rangiert hinter iOS auf dem zweiten Platz; tolles UI und minimalistisches Auftreten, im Vergleich sieht Android alt aus. Fragt sich, wer da den Hostentaschenbomber Galaxy Nexus haben möchte, gerade weil es wesentlich teurer ist und schlechter verarbeitet sein wird, wie man es von Plastik-König Samsung gewohnt ist.
Ich freue mich auf das Nokia Lumia 800. Vorbestellbar ist es derzeit bei T-Mobile mit Vertragsbindung, die Auslieferung soll am 15.11.2011 beginnen.

Quelle (via Hacker News). Das muss aufhören. Microsoft sollte sich in der Pflicht sehen, IE6-Nutzer aufzufordern, upzugraden oder zumindest darauf hinzuweisen, dass ihr Browser veraltet ist. Volkswagen hingegen scheint seine Gründe zu haben:
“For security reasons, the Volkswagen Group does not recommend other browsers like Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Netscape etc. as they show security gaps.”
Lächerlich.

We also run ourselves too fast, like a sprint, when life is much longer than a sprint. Try it: go outside and sprint all-out for two minutes. Stop, breathe for a sec, then sprint again. See how long you can keep that up — most can’t go very long. Our days are like a series of sprints.
